Working out what you need
How much concrete do I need?
Use the volume calculator in the quote drawer on the right of any page — length by width by depth, with 5% added for wastage. No waste and no guesswork.
How much does concrete weigh?
One cubic metre of concrete weighs approximately 2.4 tonnes, which is roughly 30 to 35 full wheelbarrows.
What mix do I need?
Tell us what the concrete is going into and how it will be finished, and our technical team will specify it. The BRMCA guides for agricultural use and housing use are a good starting point and are on our downloads page.
Can you supply a specialist mix?
Yes. As well as standard ready mixed concrete we produce foam concrete, self compacting concrete, concrete with waterproof additives, concrete for piling, and concrete for floors.
Ordering and payment
Do I need an account?
No. You can order a single load without an account. Trade customers can apply for a credit account using the form on our downloads page.
How much is concrete?
Ring the plant that covers your postcode with your site address and what you need, and we will give you a competitive price. Price depends on the mix, the volume and where it is going, so we do not publish a rate card.
How long do we get to unload?
You get 30 minutes on site to discharge the load. After that we charge waiting time, so it is worth having the pour ready and enough people on it before the truck arrives.
Do I have to pay before delivery?
Yes, payment must be made before delivery unless the order is on an approved credit account.
Who takes the order?
All orders are taken by production plant personnel, not a call centre, so you are talking to the people who batch and load it.
Can I collect rather than have it delivered?
Yes. A collection service is available from our plants, including concrete and screed from Tout Quarry, Charlton Adam.
Delivery and access
Where do you deliver?
Throughout Somerset and parts of Wiltshire, Hampshire, Devon and Dorset. Screed is delivered throughout Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Wiltshire, and our liquid screeds reach parts of Hampshire and Gloucestershire too.
How quickly can you deliver?
Same day or next day service where we can, with precise coordination of delivery schedules. Ring the plant that serves your postcode to confirm a slot.
Will I get a delivery time?
Tracking systems are fitted to our trucks, so we can give you accurate delivery timescales and advice on your requirements.
My site has restricted access. What can you do?
Our mini-mix trucks carry up to 3.5 cubic metres and are 260cm wide and 402cm high. Where the pour is out of reach, our conveyor trucks place concrete up to 17 metres from the truck with a full 180 degree swivel, which removes the need for a dumper, skid-steer loader or pump.
Are the mini-mix dimensions exact?
They are representative of the standard size. We cannot be held responsible for variation in actual delivery vehicle size due to the varied trucks within our fleet — if you have very specific access requirements, contact the plant and we will make arrangements accordingly.
Quality and paperwork
What standards do you work to?
Ready mixed concrete to BS EN 206-1 and BS 8500-2, screed to BS EN 13813, and concrete blocks to EN 771-3 with CE marking. Our quality system runs to ISO 9001 and is assessed by a third party, and we run an environmental management system to ISO 14001.
Do you test what you produce?
Yes. Our full-time in-house technical department tests both raw materials and finished products on a daily basis, so what arrives meets current national standards.
Can I get a data sheet or certificate?
Yes, and nothing is behind a login. Over a hundred documents are on our downloads page — data sheets, declarations of performance, safety data and our certificates. If you cannot find what you need, ring the plant and we will send it.
Screed and specialist products
Traditional or liquid screed?
Traditional cement and sand screed is easy to finish and durable. Liquid screed, produced with Gyvlon or Cemfloor binder, is ideal for underfloor heating because it fully encases the pipes, and covers large areas quickly. See the screed page.
Can you add fibres or fast-track drying?
We can add anti-crack fibres if required, or early drying additives to help fast track your project. Retarder is normally supplied in our traditional screed.
Can I use any 14:1 sand cement mix for cable protection?
No — not all materials have the required thermal conductivity. Our cement bound sand is compliant with ENA TS 97-1 and NGTS 3.05.07, so you can order with confidence. Certificates are available on request.
